Please watch fullscreenThe video work was filmed in 2012 in Milavida, in Tampere.
It is a building from 1897 which first was a private house, later a historical museum – empty then and waiting for renovation. Several sad events had happened the history of the building especially during the Finnish Civil War in 1918, where many lives were lost and the building suffered great damage.
Today it is a beautiful museum of cultural history.
The empty rooms of Milavida with their acoustics and the sliding doors inspired us to experiment with the movements and the sound. The outfits and the bones were a random pick from my performance materials storage.Now 10 years later, when I looked through the video material, those strange scenes we had shot in Milavida arranged themselves quite nicely as a sketch for the DOOR OPERA.
I can see even the bones connecting of the history of the building.
